Most mite species are harmless to animals and humans but a few species are parasitic by nature. Ticks are a type of mite but will be discussed by themselves.
Mites are very small and very often go unnoticed. For those with allergies dust mites are the most problematic. For everyone else Ticks and chiggers are the main mite species to avoid.
